CBD vs CBD: addressing the CBD you think you know
AN ARTICLE WRITTEN BY LG
Lately, our conversations have been about CBD and ‘the CBD that people think they know.’ Some seem to think that CBD and THC are the same thing.
It seems to be something that we’ve been having conversations about more than usual, lately.
Typically our talks with some people are spawned from whatever experience they’ve had, or about someone that has told them their tales of “an amazing yet unrecognizable weekend with CBD.” From this, somehow, the assumption is made that CBD is THC.
This then means CBD is the legal way someone can go about getting ‘fucked up!’
Which is absolutely false!
With this also comes the conclusion that “if marijuana makes me feel like this” then so will CBD.
People then will take this assumption, and go out to get or order CBD as if it is the legal means to marijuana. CBD then gets a bad rap when that person is confused why they “don’t feel the CBD.”
It isn’t the CBD at fault here…it is the lack of information/education.
Sure there are a LOT of ‘homemade’ CBD out there that have ridiculously (some argue dangerous) high levels of THC (synthetics and other things) in gummies. This is the reason they are ‘homemade’ and not from a regulated production.
These are the gummies that are found at the beginning of a story that starts with, “bro, I had some OP gummies last night, NO CAP!”
PLEASE be careful with gummies that you don’t know where they are coming from or who made them.
Firstly, the math should read like this:
because CBD and THC are not the same things.
Secondly, CBD products and CBD products with THC are also not the same.
Because you have CBD doesn’t mean that you have THC.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of many active compounds found in the cannabis plant. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is another active compound, in the plant, and the most well-known, thanks to its psychoactive properties — it’s the thing that gets you “high.”
CBD is non-psychoactive but has a number of the same medicinal benefits as THC. This allows you to take advantage of the therapeutic benefits without leaving you with the “stoned” feeling that often goes hand in hand with THC.
There have been many medical studies done with the compound, all showing the many benefits found with the daily use of CBD. To name a few, they have shown it to be effective in providing relief from various mental health conditions. Also found that CBD is a great means of addressing pain caused by inflammation; thus making CBD a viable anti-inflammatory for some people.
You can get CBD in a variety of ways – oils, gummies, topicals, in specialty items, and even products that benefit your pets and livestock.
Exactly, you can’t have peanut butter in peanut butter…it is still just peanut butter.
So CBD must be different than THC, otherwise, you’re saying CBD with THC is just CBD with CBD in it.
CBD products without THC are categorized as BROAD-SPECTRUM. This means that the CBD product you have has “0% THC in it.” Thus there is no THC amount that will not show up if you were subjected to a drug test.
CBD products with THC are categorized as FULL-SPECTRUM. Conversely, this means that this product WILL have a percentage of THC in it – “less than 0.3% THC” to be legal in the US. This means that there is a chance for this level of THC to show up if you were subjected to a drug test.
We discuss ways of understanding this in our really popular Are You Taking a Piss article.
You can get it either way. We do recommend that if you get CBD with THC, you get hemp-derived CBD, which gives you a better chance of it being within the legal limits of THC.
Again, currently, in the US, the legal limit is less than 0.3% THC in full-spectrum products.
So what is the point?
CBD works to maintain levels in your ECS to inhibit the enzymes that break them down. With higher cannabinoids, the feedback loop for maintaining homeostasis (balance) allows for better function.
The ECS regulates our sleep-wake cycle, memory, metabolism, stress function, and much much more. This is why CBD can have such broad-acting effects on the body and help maintain balance.
Unlike most pharmaceutical compounds, hemp-derived cannabinoids tone the function of your ECS. This helps regulate our body’s ability to adapt to its environment—this also means that it’s prone to fewer negative side effects.
The time of day you take CBD can also affect how the compound makes you feel.
If you’re struggling to maintain focus and energy throughout the day because of stress, you may want to take CBD in the morning.
As an alternative, those struggling to get enough sleep may find the best time to take CBD is in the evening to prepare the body for sleep.
So am I being duped by CBD? no, you’re not being duped by cbd…but maybe by the info
It really comes down to information – knowing how to read it, knowing what it means to you, and the results you’re likely to see versus the ones you’re looking for.
It is easy to get lost in the overload of info and hype with certain CBD brands/products out there. But there are several things that are absolute.
As we’ve mentioned several times in various articles, COAs are important information.
They break down all of the factors of the CBD product you have or in the ones you are looking for. These are essential for you yo know what you’re really getting in every dose.
If a company (or your source) doesn’t have COAs for their products…RUN.
Be mindful of the big numbers covering the true dose numbers. Just because a company is saying in their product, “you’re getting 2000mg of CBD oil; the amount you need!” – doesn’t mean that literally.
Keep in mind that this number isn’t the amount you’re taking each dose. That is the amount in the entire container.
Most companies would rather show the bigger number in the container than show the amount per dose. This is likely because their dose amount is super low, and you’d have to take several of their doses to truly get the amount of CBD you need for you particularly.
As for products by Bobby Rapscallion, we are a brand that only produces high-potency products, so we love telling you our dose amount because we know it is higher than a majority out there.
Thus you get more bang for your buck, and at a dosage level that really gives you the CBD you need.
Some people also get caught up in the miracle elixir talk of CBD. While we tell everyone that it WILL help them, we never consult anyone by saying that it will cure them.
CBD will help. You will feel the effects on your system and how your stress levels drop, sleep improves, memory improves, and many other things.
It will address a lot of factors that are present in different conditions and ailments that people suffer from daily. Some, but not all, can be anxiety, migraines, PMS, ALZ, Parkinson’s, seizures, brain-fog, and more.
But each person is different and the effects are apparent sooner or later in people in various ways. CBD will never be a one-size-fits-all, because of various factors. (We get into some of the ways it does here, here, and here.)
CBD & YOU! – telling it to you straight
It is hard to refute the benefits of having a daily amount of CBD in your health and wellness routine.
If you’re into working out…it helps with inflammation and recovery.
Wanting to up your productivity…better sleep and stress management.
Limited some of the negative effects of conditions in your life…it can help with that too.
Overall health is very important, and CBD is more than a viable option that you can easily apply in your daily routine.
To sum it all up
Whether you get products from us or not, we want to make sure that you have the information you need to empower you to make the decision that works best for you.
Be mindful of what you’re looking to get out of the CBD you’re looking for.
Remember that CBD is working to balance your ECS and better the means of you address certain things in your life in a more balanced fashion.
Whether it is broad-spectrum or full-spectrum, the CBD you get will work to help you and your ECS.
CBD alone is something to stay on top of, but adding THC content percentage to it is just adding more complexity to something that you have means to managing yourself.
Look at the COAs and don’t believe all the hype if there is nothing that can be shown.
